At the 2011 Annual Conference, it was announced that the Office of Connectional Ministries would no longer run background checks. This will take effect October 1, 2011. If your church has used the Conference to process background checks in the past, all individuals will remain cleared for three years from the date they were processed.

We will work with all local churches to make this transition as smooth as possible. As you continue “living out” your Safe Sanctuary policy, we urge churches to use Trak-1.

Trak-1 provides exceptional background checks and training. They also allow information sharing across all churches in the conference. This means if your church uses Trak-1 your members who participate in Salkehatchie, UMVIM and other annual conference ministries will not need to be rechecked.

Using Trak-1 has many benefits but their important ones are:

1. Individuals will run their own report.  All records are maintained on Trak-1’s database.
2. Training materials can be accessed to educate the congregation.
